I had the best Christmas Ever! It was such a happy, stress free family time. I got the best present anyone could ever imagine, I finished treatment on Thursday 13th December, 2012. It was a very emotional day, to say the least. I cried tears of joy and I was so thankful for everything. True, I have been through a lot, an operation, 6 months of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of radiotherapy, 1 year of herceptin, but I did it! I am out the other side and life is great. My hair is growing back, I am back at work full time and my energy has returned. Quite simply, I feel fantastic.
When you realize that your time here is limited, it makes you refocus on the things that really matter, family, friends, community. It also forces you to look at any life long ambitions, and perhaps get started on them. For me, I had always wanted to return to college and do a Masters. And I finally decided that it is now or never! Do it or forget about it. And guess what? I started my MBA in September 2012 and I will complete it in June 2014. I am so delighted that I actually made the move and undertook this challenging course. Yes, obviously it is difficult trying to manage everything, but, I can tell you, after what I had to go through, this is definately easier than I would have thought prior to my cancer!
So, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year. Focus on the good things in life, live every day as if it is your last, never give up on our dreams, and remember, a strong positive mental attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug! :-) xxx
